OUR VISION

Research – Development – Innovation

Our company is at the forefront of innovation, integrating cutting-edge technologies through strategic partnerships and collaborative research initiatives.

Our vision is to develop a new generation of innovative, high-value products derived from residual olive biomass. These products are designed to advance the circular economy, foster entrepreneurship, and support human and environmental well-being. They include bioactive compounds such as squalene and biopolyphenols, as well as sustainable alternatives to fossil-derived resources, including biochar and biogas.

Two representative projects, co-funded through European and national research and innovation programmes, demonstrate our commitment to this vision.

SQUAKER Project

In collaboration with PHARMAGNOSE S.A., a spin-off of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the University of Patras, we implemented the project “Valorization of Olive Mill Waste for Squalene Production.”

Squalene is a valuable compound for the human body and a precursor to sterols. Traditionally, squalene was extracted from shark liver. Through our innovative method, we isolate squalene from the raw material entering our production facility, thereby contributing to the protection of marine ecosystems while producing a high-quality substance that is fully compatible with the human body.

FUNDING
The project was co-funded through the research programme of the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, “RESEARCH – INNOVATE / Intervention I.”

SYMSITES Project

In collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the University of Vienna, KU Leuven, and other partners, we are implementing this research project focused on the development of “Eco-Sites” that promote industrial and urban symbiosis.

The project focuses on the shared use of technologies for wastewater treatment, energy production, and recycling, creating synergies between industrial and urban activities and supporting more sustainable and resource-efficient production systems.

FUNDING

The project was funded under the European Union’s research and innovation programme HORIZON.
